Pain Begetting Pain!

Nov 18, 2025

Written By Geri Silva

In June of 2025, my nephew was stabbed in the face and hand as he tried to protect himself. He was stabbed right across the street from his house for no apparent reason. He was on his way home from work. The incident has left us searching for reasons as my nephew struggles to recover. He tends to be a loner, thus unable to find comfort in others, including myself.

I am devastated and feel helpless, sad for my nephew and empathy for the young man who did this. I know hurt people hurt others, so I hope the young man gets help and realizes his potential before it’s too late.

I don’t want revenge. Revenge just perpetuates the cycle of pain, punishes the young man’s friends and family and does nothing to solve the problem of people hurting people. I want the young man to get intervention, find himself and contribute to the world. He is human, he must be worth something.
